Dia de Muertos at Hollywood Forever 2025 by Maria Rivera, Mary Cummins

Día de Muertos at the Hollywood Forever cemetery in Los Angeles, California. It was a lot smaller event this year. They cut back because of ICE. I was the only Catrina there! No bands or folklorico dancers. No costume contest. Very few vendors. I was only there 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Everyone had to enter through the front gate only. The line wrapped around six times on the front lawn. It took half an hour to get in. I spoke with quite a few people there. They all noticed it was much smaller and didn't have as many entertainers. The ticket price for the day event was $16 and last year it was $35.

I was there for the opening night gala. Everything was great except the main party in the center courtyard of the building was only for her family. Seems odd to have a private family party in the middle of a publicly sponsored event. No one else was allowed in there. That is where the DJ, food and drinks were. I RSVP'd for the event the second I heard about it. I was on the list.
